clarence the cockroach #3 9th June 2007

This is simply astounding. Clarence lives on! Although I do wish he would fade away from this world - this would mean I could stop typing these silly blog entries about him. Which raises a new question - Is Clarence a male or a female cockroach?

Count the segments on the ventral surface of the male and female abdomen. The number of visible segments is higher in the male than the female. Also the females posterior abdomen is broader and more rounded than the male.

Unfortunately, I don’t have another cockroach to compare results with and therefore cannot conclude if Clarence is a male or a female. I think it’s a male. It has a male look to it, and anyway, I already named it Clarence.

Clarence hasn’t had enough to eat for ages. This is because I: a. Want to stop writing these blog entries and b. Am too scared to open up the tube and drop a piece of bread in there. I wonder if cockroaches eat their own poo when they get really hungry, much like rabbits - well… not really, rabbits eat their own poo because they have a really inefficient digestive system - Imagine if humans had to do that. That would be fun - the warmness, the varying consistency of poo. Actually eating poo reminds me of this Indonesian dish called rendang.

Oh man, Clarence is like my dad; he’s telling me to go to sleep - it’s 12:13am now. Goodnight.
