Imperfection is nature’s perfection 24th September 2008
There seems to be a problem.
I have just finished compiling our company’s annual report. We’ve had it checked a few times, and were absolutely sure that there were no visible errors to be seen.
But every time I sent a final copy to the printers, a new blip would appear. Since sending the first initial publication, I have sent a further 6 copies, each with an amendment of some error.
And today our book got printed. While I was preparing the document for a digital audience, I found another error. This time it wasn’t so obscure or hidden, in fact, was extremely blatant and could well pose a threat to our perfectionist image we try to achieve — The problem was that when I resized the page, I forgot to re-centre the objects on the back page. Now they are nudged 10mm to the right too far.
Now that’s over, it’s time to win.

Just a few weeks, ago I was about to write something about how awesomely awesome the One News set looked in comparison to other news broadcasting sets. Unfortunately, just last week, they revamped their set — and golly, it looks disgusting (photo doesn’t do the full credit the ugliness deserves). Not only does it look like their rival, TV3’s news set, but it also has a resemblance to the One News set of the 90’s.
The previous set (2002-2008) was a cut above many. NBC, ABC, BBC, CBS, SKY, FOX, Nine, all feature an oak-like desk with dark browns/oranges; giving an overall aged feel. On the contrary, TVNZ’s One News touted a modern teal tingle throughout the set, resulting from using many planes of glass. Additionally, they had super-awesome graphics which were much more superior to larger-budget news bulletins.
