Site refreshments 7th June 2006

A few edits here and there, and there you have it a new site for me to look at. Also took away the tutorials part of the site as I saw taht not many people go there, and I don’t have time to write tutorials anyway. Despite this, I might make a downloads page where I can add my scripts I made for all to download.

Google Analytics 5th April 2006

I’m not too sure if Google Analytics has been released for a long time or not, but I just mysteriously received an invitation earlier today to join. It is a free statistics program which allows you to tracker visitors, browser info, resolutions, screen colours, java enabled, flash version, connection speed, OS and more - pritty decent layout as well. Google Analytics, screenshot.

Consistency 7th February 2006

It’s annoying how browsers have different ‘coding engines’ where one thing would look perfect on one browser and absolutely absurd on another. Why couldn’t they make a universal ‘coding engine’ so websites can be viewed consistently throughout the vast range of browsers out there.

Horrah for No Tables 5th February 2006

After 2 hours and a short walk on the beach between the two hours, I have finally completed a site template which is table free. Time wasting? Yes, because of the heavy homework load I have and no-one looks at my site anyway. I should stop typing out news and blog entries that only I read myself.

No Tables? No Chairs? 25th January 2006

Over the past few days I have come across many sites composed solely from CSS - No tables involved. It seems very interesting but I don’t understand how it works even after looking at the source. So when I have some time I’m going to experiment with this. When I have time that is… csszengarden.com

// Edit - I have wasted 2 hours testing and creating this site solely out of CSS. I have somewhat failed as there are separate problems on both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. I will have to wait release a sole CSS site when I release my next site version - excited? I sure am =)

New Admin System 18th January 2006

I have created a new admin system which uses cookies. I am currently updating all admin pages. Admin pages will be more secure.

Congratulations 16th January 2006

To myself, I present a certificate to congratulate myself of an achievement - “To finally fully complete his own website” - well actually I’m not done but at least every single page it up =). Congratulations and applauds can be sent via here.

Valid CSS and HTML 25th December 2005

After adding a few alternative text tags here and there, this page is finally html validated. So why does it matter?

Over 2 million pages were evaluated, and of that 14,763 pages were considered to meet W3C standards, that’s a measly 0.007%. Many web builders have over the past years built websites with astounding designs, but forget the fundamentals of web building - a valid HTML code. The five main errors are:

  • No Document Type Definition (DTD) declaration
  • Missing required attribute
  • Non-standard attribute
  • Omitted end tag
  • End tag not open
